Dettori got the better of Opinion Poll and Mickael Barzalona in an epic final furlong showdown with John Oxx’s four-year-old back in third. Johnny Murtagh was to have his revenge in the Goodwood Cup on better terms, but Saeed Bin Suroor’s four-year-old ran creditably in defeat staying on right up to the line. With the extra two furlongs and drying ground all in his favour we may well see, in our opinion, the best out and out staying four-year-old back to his very best. Silvestre De Sousa takes the ride tomorrow, but by no means is this a negative. He is a jockey that has been at the top of his game of late, and we are sure he’ll do the horse justice on the big stage. The Lonsdale Cup winner Times Up also goes to post for John Dunlop as well as last year’s St Leger victor Masked Marvel.
