Welcome to The Profits ‘Quick and Dirty’ preview of the Cranbourne races form for Friday 18 January 2012. Moonee Valley is more our thing and we find that the runners at Cranbourne are of the lesser quality and much harder to be consistent with. This is reflected with our confidence in races. There are a few diamonds in the rough but I certainly wouldn’t be toughing a quaddie today and no more than 3 races maximum. As always, we hope your form matches up with ours. Good luck and happy punting!

Red means Top pick. Blue means second pick and Green refers to a saver pick. Orange means a speculation pick.
Race 1
As Maidens go, this one of of those that could produce a winner you don’t expect. Danarule on previous form deserves to be the favourite here today with three other chances. Chasing Drama has shown enough to suggest he can go close today but after 17 starts, you would have expected a win. Padrao went very close two back in lesser company. Does need to find more today it seems. The big chance is Luminova. On previous form lines will probably start favourite because of the Moody factor.

Race 2
The stand out in a very hard to choose race here is Rainbow Dane. Just keeps on putting in solid runs and from barrier 2 should get a good run once again. The new moody runner Stockton will be well supported as always but you would want to see how he looks in the ring. MiroMiro may need to do too much work to go forward but has run well enough to threaten today off last two runs. Finally, Threelegsagain could run well on last start.

Race 3
Guess what? Another maiden!!! Military Officer is the key horse in this race with good Caulfield form and a close 2nd at Mornington. Expect he has trained on and will start very short today. The other chances are Grane who you can expect to run better today, Lucks A Fortune and finally Hekabe the first starter.
Confidence 80%
Race 4
Probably the hardest maiden of the day. Princeton Miss could be value on previous runs, but horses such as Stiletto Rock, Azzcool, Delta Whiskey and Lustful could improve today.
Confidence 60%
Race 5
Good run last start by El Blazing Time. Could improve again today on that run. Nereus is hard to get a hold of, he should improve on from last start and finally Unfaithfully over from Adelaide may go close.
Confidence 55%
Race 6
A fairly open race. The most interesting runner for us is Resemblance. Ran on well last start at Moonee Valley and is down 2kg today from barrier 4. Will position in a winning position to launch late. The main threats are: Fierce Command who ran very well behind Aerolink here last start and may appreciate the outside barrier more today, Mulaazem who did win a 2YO race by 10L on heavy but was disappointing first up and Greystone who beat home Mulaazem that day.
Confidence 70%
Race 7
Four runners stick out here. Medal Day has been running some very solid race at the distances recently but just not breaking through. Down to 55kg today, could be the difference. Mucho Caliente down to 54.5kg after claim is weighted to win, but would need to have progressed onwards again since last start, Fire Truck is down in class today big time. Weighted harshly but on previous runs can go close and finally Dell is also down in class but up to 59kg.

Race 8
No doubt that this is the race of the night and is certainly worth waiting for. There are a few chances in this race and you can expect a bit of value. Dimi The Dancer will run another solid race but looks outweighted today. Who Stole My Sock got the money last start here well but this is a big step up. Will go close but we are looking at others around him. Jolie Bay has form around solid horses such as Sir Fernando, Vibrant Rouge and Stratigraphy. The issue is that she hasn’t gone closer than 2.3L and needs to improve today. Cavallo Nero ran VERY well last start at Flemington and from barrier 1, expect them to go forward again. Kissick on board with the 2kg claim to help out weight wise, has the ability and will go close. Finally, Valrouz comes into this with some great form lines.
This race will all come down to the value you can get for a runner.
