Week 7 of the English Premier League brings a clash between the top 2 clubs in Manchester City and Tottenham. It’s a match that should round out the weekend’s action nicely whilst a draw between 1st & 2nd could allow some of the chasing pack in Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool to bite into the gap that Manchester City currently have after 6 straight league wins. Unfortunately for Everton, their draw with Palace on Saturday morning was a somewhat lost opportunity for them to push into 2nd place.
H to H Multi Bet: Liverpool win ($1.4), Chelsea win ($1.5), Manchester United win ($1.33), Leicester win ($2.2), Arsenal ($1.4) = $8.6
Match Day 7 Best Bet: Manchester United vs Stoke Over 2.5 goals at $1.59
**Odds from Sportsbet as at 1st October
Swansea vs Liverpool
A fourth loss last time out for Swansea has made for a poor start to the season and the visit of Liverpool makes for another difficult contest to gain points. Liverpool have been in fantastic form lately. They have won their last 3 games scoring 11 goals in the process. They still have weaknesses in defence and have yet to keep a clean sheet this season but the amount of goals they are scoring lately it’s not a pressing issue right now. Defensively they may come unstuck at times this season but for now they are in great form and should win this match. For Swansea, they’ve only failed to score in 2 of their league matches this season so they’re a good shot at scoring against a suspect defence here. The problem is they themselves may not be strong enough to keep Liverpool’s attackers quiet.
Predicted score: Liverpool 2-1
Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals at $1.5 (90%)
Next Best: Both teams to score – Yes at $1.67
Watford vs Bournemouth
Contrasting results for both sides last time out with Watford losing to Burnley and Bournemouth securing a great win over an Everton side that had won 4 straight. For Watford, their loss to Burnley was their first game that they hadn’t scored in this season in all competitions. Etienne Capoue had been in a purple patch of form having scored 4 times already this season but that run seems to have come to an end. For Bournemouth, they’ve now won 2 of their last 3 but those wins have come at home. On the road they have struggled having only taken 1 point whilst also only scoring 1 goal and conceding 6. Whilst Watford may have only won 1 of their 3 home games, they look stronger proposition in this one.
Predicted score: Watford 2-1
Best Bet: Watford to win either half at $1.64 (80%)
Next Best: Watford Draw No Bet at $1.57
West Ham vs Middlesbrough
Life in the top flight is miserable for West Ham at the moment. There was a lot of excitement for them this season with the move into a new stadium, Europa League football and an exciting looking squad after a strong season in 2015/16. Now they have lost their last 4 matches and are getting scored against heavily. They’ve conceded at least 2 goals in 5 of their 6 league games and although Middlesbrough aren’t exactly a side that scores heavily, nothing is an impossibility at the moment. West Brom don’t score a lot of goals (7 in total this season) but they managed to score 4 against the Hammers. The pressure is building on West Ham and whilst they are due for a win, it’s no certainty so it’s best to approach this with a level of caution.
Predicted score: West Ham 2-1
Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals at $1.95 (80%)
Next Best: Both teams to score – Yes at $1.72
Hull vs Chelsea
Hull have fallen away lately after winning their first 2 games of the season whilst their opponents this weekend are also in a similar position. Hull have lost 3 of their last 4 games whilst Chelsea have lost their last 2 straight to Liverpool and Arsenal. For Chelsea it seems as though the new faces in the side need some time to gel, especially defensively but this weekend’s match may be a great opportunity to get some runs on the board so to speak. The problem for Hull this week is defensively they have been pretty poor and Chelsea should be taking advantage of that with the talent they have up front. Hull have conceded the equal 3rd most goals this season averaging 2 goals conceded per game and that average surely won’t slow down if Chelsea get back into scoring ways.
Predicted score: Chelsea 2-0
Best Bet: Chelsea to win at $1.5 (90%)
Next Best: Exactly 2 or 3 goals at $2
Sunderland vs West Brom
The Black Cats are desperate for a win after claiming just 1 point from 6 games this season. The visit of West Brom is not an easy task though as they have played some pretty good football this season. The task looks even tougher with the added injuries of Januzaj and Pienaar to a list that already includes Borini and Larsson. West Brom have no such issues but their chances will rest on whether their attackers are on form. Up front they look a better proposition this season with Rondon supported by Chadli and Phillips so they have the capabilities to score. Sunderland aren’t strong defensively but there are games in the season where goals are hard to come by for both sides and this could well be one of those games. Sunderland will be focused on building from the back whilst West Brom may struggle at times to break through a flooded defence. A draw looks likely if there was to be a winner, West Brom look the more likely of the two.
Predicted score: Draw 0-0
Best Bet: Double chance West Brom at $1.53 (80%)
Next Best: Under 2.5 goals at $1.6
Manchester United vs Stoke
After a drop in form with 2 losses to Manchester City and Watford, Manchester United got back to winning ways against last season’s Champions Leicester. They won that match 4-1 and look a strong chance to make repeat the dose when they host Stoke this week. Stoke have been poor this season. They’ve conceded the second most goals (15) and have only taken 2 points from a possible 18. Injuries haven’t helped their cause but they should have been in a stronger position by this stage of the season. United look too hard to beat here and the removal of Rooney to the bench looks to have reinvigorated the side with Mata in good form at the moment.
Predicted score: Manchester United 3-0
Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals at $1.59 (85%)
Next Best: Manchester United to score 3 or more goals at $2.25
Leicester vs Southampton
Things are going well for Leicester in the Champions League but they need to somehow replicate that form in the Premier League. Currently they sit in 12th with just the 2 wins for the season and have a long way to go if they are to return to the heights of last season. You could however forgive them for not playing to the heights of last season as repeating that effort would really have been even more impossible than them winning it in the first place. They host Southampton this week and will be focused on making it 2 straight after their Champions League win over Porto during the week. At home they are hard to beat having taken 7 from a possible 9 points in their 3 home league games. For Southampton they haven’t travelled particularly well but they did claim their first away win in the league last time out when they beat West Ham 3-0. Leicester won’t be easy to score against here though as they’ve only conceded once at home this season. There likely won’t be a lot of goals in this match but a win for Leicester looks the most likely result.
Predicted score: Leicester 1-0
Best Bet: Leicester to win at $2.2 (75%)
Next Best: Both teams to score – No at $2
Tottenham vs Manchester City
There’s been some classic matches between these two in recent seasons. The last 4 meetings has seen 2 wins for City and 2 wins for Tottenham. Both sides have scored 7 goals in those 4 meetings meaning we could be in for a thriller here. That would go a little against Tottenham’s current defensive form having conceded just 3 times this season and just once at home but strange things have happened in football. City have been the strongest offensive side this season scoring 18 times but 14 of those goals have come against the likes of Stoke, West Ham, Bournemouth and Swansea who have all been poor defensively. City may have only conceded 5 times this season but their defence has been a little masked by their ability to outscore opponents. The loss of De Bruyne to injury is a big blow to their chances this week having provided 4 assists and scoring 2 of his own. It certainly doesn’t mean they won’t be able to score through the likes of Aguero, Silva and Sterling, but his loss is big. Likewise for Tottenham, the loss of Kane to injury hurts but the form of Son has been nothing short of incredible lately. The wide-man has scored 4 times in the league this season and 5 times in his last 5 appearances. City’s defence is probably the one question mark at the moment and Tottenham will certainly ask questions.
Predicted score: Draw 1-1
Best Bet: Half-time Draw at $2.1 (70%)
Next Best: Both teams to score – Yes at $1.57
Burnley vs Arsenal
After a poor start to the season, Arsenal have now won their last 4 league games and will be difficult to beat this weekend, let alone for Burnley. Burnley will count on their ability to defend where at times this season they’ve been strong, especially at home. They’ve only conceded twice at home from 4 games including where they faced Liverpool and beat them 2-0. They would love to have a similar result against Arsenal here but keeping both sides quiet may be a difficult task. Arsenal have scored 12 goals in their last 4 games and don’t look like slowing down. Burnley will look to sit back and focus on the counter but this may just be a matter of time before Arsenal break through. Don’t expect a mountain of goals but Arsenal should be winning this.
Predicted score: Arsenal 2-0
Best Bet: Arsenal -1 Handicap at $2 (75%)
Next Best: Both teams to score – No at $1.83
