Welcome back to another preview of a few games in the MLB for the weekend. As we get even closer to the post season it’s time to start crossing teams off as a playoff chance and in some regard some teams now are just not worth looking at from a betting perspective. Once a team has sewn up a Division championship you can bet your bottom dollar that they will be resting key players and rotating as much as possible to keep the line up fresh. Those still in the thick of the action are where the focus needs to be. Some absolute key matchups this weekend and the struggling A’s (almost everyone had them to take out the whole thing at some point) take on the Mariners. While the Dodgers and Giants battle it out in the NL West.

Prediction
Mariners. Early in the season the A’s and Sonny Gray in particular where money on the bank for us bettors. Lately though, ouch for A’s fans. A team that was looking like the best in baseball now finds itself possibly missing out on even a wild card spot. This weekend’s series with the Mariners is huge. Gray is a solid 13-8 on the season with an ERA of 3.22. However 5 of those losses have come in his last 8 starts, Oakland only winning 1 of them. He has gotten himself into trouble early and his pitch count has been way up. Clearly showing signs of the long season being such a young starting pitcher. On the other side you have the King. No doubt the winner of the AL Cy Young he has just been solid all year. 14-5 with an ERA of 2.12. 4-0 with an ERA of 2.15 against the A’s this season. The A’s just are not scoring runs like they use to since Cespedes was traded, and I can’t see them getting many here. Mariners need to win the King’s starts to push the wild card race and they will here. Pretty confident and you won’t get too many Hernandez games at $1.61 or better.

Over/Under – Over 6.5($1.96) Under 6.5 ($1.88)
Prediction
Giants. Huge series with San Fran needing to catch up ground on LA. With a solid win on Saturday they will be looking to continue the form, they have been hot and LA pretty cold. Great time to meet and with Hudson on the mound up against Greinke it should be a cracking game. Both pitchers started the season in great form but have since regressed. Hudson 9-10 with an ERA of 3.12, Greinke 14-8 with an ERA 2.73. I’m going to side with the Giants here as they are hitting much better then LA and are on a roll at the moment. The price is good for the Giants but the over 6.5 runs good value. I think there will be runs. Of the 14 games this season between the 2, the Giants lead 8-6 and the over 6.5 has hit 8 times. Going to hope it’s a 9th.

Cincinnati Reds vs Milwaukee Brewers (9am AEST)
Brewers have been on a slump of late and have not only given up the NL Central lead but now also sit outside of the wild card race. They need to win and they are up against a team that struggle to score runs on the road. Brewers at $1.49 is pretty short but I like them enough here to add them a parlay play at least.
