MLB Sunday 14th 2015

Welcome back to a preview of some MLB action to finish off your weekend of Sport. The week ended well for us however we hit a snag yesterday with a hapless Giants failing to score a run at home. Hopefully we end the weekend off well. Plenty of games tomorrow however it does look a tough day hence only a few games i’m keen on. Bookies really starting to shore up some short prices on pitchers who have been in good form. Kershaw was at $1.37 on Saturday and we see Cole around that price on Sunday. Very short. However I think we may have found some decent prices and value around. Let’s get to it.

Best Bet –  o6.5 Dodgers/Padres at $1.83
Next Best –  Blue Jays at $2.27
Multi – o6.5 Dodgers/Padres into Pirates -1.5 at $3.40

Toronto Blue Jays vs Boston Red Sox (3.30am AEST)

Blue Jays ($2.27) – Dickey (2-6, 5.35)
Red Sox ($1.67)  – Buchholz(3-6, 4.07)

Prediction

Blue Jays. Very hard to bet against the Jays at the moment. Especially with the way the Sox are playing. They blew a huge lead on Saturday, as this Toronto team are just hitting so well. Both pitchers are not pitching their best. Dickey especially, his numbers will improve. Not betting on the pitchers in this one though. If it’s a hit fest the Jays should win. That price is way too good to let go. With a line set at 9.0, I think it’s best to just take the Jays straight out. Toronto have won 9 straight and Boston have only won 3 of their last 9. Stick with the form, when it’s at $2.27 you sort of have to.

Suggested Bet

Jays at $2.27

Philadelphia Phillies vs Pittsburgh Pirates (6.05am AEST)

Phillies ($3.21) – O’Sullivan (1-4, 4.96)
Pirates ($1.37)  – Cole (9-2, 1.73)

Prediction

Pirates. Despite some poor hitting displays of late, the Pirates are still managing to rack up the wins. They put their ace on the mound here in Gerrit Cole, been in great form and likely to continue. A long 13 inning game on Saturday with a lot of 0’s in the box score could see some issues out of the bullpens in this one. Pirates bats are good, despite the cold spell. That won’t last forever and this looks like the day they may heat up. Take the line if you think the bats wake up.

Suggested Bet

Pirates -1.5 at $1.86

Cleveland Indians vs Detroit Tigers (6.05am AEST)

Indians ($1.92) – Carrasco (7-5, 4.35)
Tigers ($1.92)  – Verlander (–, —)

Prediction

Tigers. He is back. Verlander returns after over 2 months on the treatment table. He was decent in his warm up game in Triple A, lets hope he starts this season better then last. The Tigers could really use Verlander at the moment if he returns to his pre 2014 self. Carrasco has fought back strong after a sluggish start to the year even though he slipped up in his last outing. Detroit had fun against him early in the season and I think they could do it again today.

Suggested Bet

Tigers at $1.92

Oakland A’s vs Los Angeles Angels (12.05pm AEST)

A’s ($2.17) – Graveman (3-2, 4.83)
Angels ($1.72)  – Wilson (3-5, 3.92)

Prediction

Angels. With Trout and Pujols starting to warm up, the Angels look to make a move in the AL West. Yet to really hit their form they have won 3 of the last 4 after coming off a 5 game losing streak. Wilson has struggled, but he is better than this and his numbers are going to improve. He looks to bounce back from a shelling at the hands of the Yankees. The A’s are an interesting team as you just can’t get a read on them. Ability to rack up the runs but it’s not happening enough. With Graveman on the mound, who has been consistently improving game after game I still think the Halos take this.

Suggested Bet

Angels at $1.72

Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres (12.10pm AEST)

Dodgers ($1.61) – Greinke (5-1, 1.92)
Padres ($2.38)  – Kennedy (3-5, 6.48)

Prediction

Dodgers. The Dodgers continue to roll along and notch up the wins. They throw Greinke on the mound in this one, a clear Cy Young candidate. 3rd in ERA and 4th in WHIP in the NL and a sub 2 ERA. reads well. Kennedy has struggled this year and I like the Dodgers bats in this match up. The run line is set at 6.5, 8 of Kennedys 10 starts have gone over that easily. LA’s bats should be able to plate a few, and I feel the Padres can probably get the odd one. Petco Park is not the pitching friendly park it use to be.

Suggested Bet

o6.5 at $1.83
