MLB Sunday 3 May 2015

MLB Sunday 3 May 2015

Welcome back to a preview for some weekend Baseball. With a Super Sunday of sport lined up don’t forget about the MLB, plenty of winners to be had. Let’s try and find them. It has been another successful week with a few Best Bets landing to keep it to 2 weeks in a row in the profit. That’s the aim for the season and it’s a long grind, the signs are looking good though. Some really great matchups this weekend, the Nats and Mets and the Tigers and Royals are the key one. The Astros keep winning, and as I tweeted a few times this week, they are still great value for future bets as they are way overs. The bookies finally starting to give them respect this weekend. 8 straight wins, and 12 out of the last 13. I predict two more weeks until we start to really get an idea of where teams are headed this season, Mariners and Indians for example need to turn it around. Heading into the season with such promise. Yet to deliver. On to the games and hopefully some winnings.

Best Bet – Cubs at $1.51
Next Best – D-backs/Dodgers o8.0 at $2.01
Multi – Cubs/Astros at $2.52

New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox (3.35am AEST)

Yankees ($2.00) – Eovaldi
Red Sox ($1.85) – Miley

Prediction

Red Sox. Close game on Saturday in which A-Rod notched his 660th career HR, expect runs in this one whith neither pitcher having their best stuff of late. Two former NL pitcher both struggling in the AL. The line set at 9.5 which for me is a little high, i’d be happy to take the Red Sox to out score the Yankees. They have the better bats and if they can do the damage early that should be enough.

Suggested Bet

Red Sox at $1.85

Pittsburgh Pirates vs St Louis Cardinals (4.15am AEST)

Pirates ($2.00) – Liriano
Cardinals ($1.85) – Lackey

Prediction

Pirates. Liriano was stellar in his last outing and looks to of found his groove. Lackey has been iffy at best so far and I feel the Pirates may sneak a few runs here. Even with injury concerns over McCutchen the Pirates have not exactly missed him. The Cardinals always give solid home performances but this one could be a low scorer. Either team likely to win, but won’t be much in it at all.

Suggested Bet

Under 7.0 at $2.01

Milwaukee Brewers vs Chicago Cubs (4.20am AEST)

Brewers ($2.64) – Friers
Cubs ($1.51) – Arrieta

Prediction

Cubs. The inform Cubs with who I feel is their best pitcher in Jake Arrieta, at home. Against the ordinary Brewers. The price is right. The Cubs were kept to One run early Saturday morning in a 1-0 win and I can’t see them being kept so low again. Take the -1.5 when it’s available or the head to head as a multi anchor.

Suggested Bet

Cubs at $1.51

Los Angeles Angels vs San Francisco Giants (6.05am AEST)

Angels ($2.02) – Santiago
Giants ($1.83) – Hudson

Prediction

Angels. I have been somewhat surprised in the Angels sluggish start to the season. They will get going soon. Hudson has not started like he did 12 months ago and the Giants bats are just not that good. If the Angels out hit them, which I think they will. They win. The price is good.

Suggested Bet

Angles at $2.02

Philadelphia Phillies vs Miami Marlins (6.10am AEST)

Phillies ($2.03) – Hamles
Marlins ($1.82) – Haren

Prediction

Marlins. How long will Hamels be with the Phillies for ? A good pitcher who just flat out gets no run support. The Marlins are finally getting going after a slow start and the price is too good to refuse on a team that is now in a groove.

Suggested Bet

Marlins at $1.82

Tampa Bay Rays vs Baltimore Orioles (9.05am AEST)

Rays ($1.65) – Archer
Orioles ($2.31) – Gonzalez

Prediction

Rays. Orioles are playing this home series in Tampa due to the trouble in Baltimore. The Rays starting pitching has been solid and none more so then Chris Archer. He has not allowed an earned run in over 26 innings. A streak that goes back to the 6th inning of his opening day start against these same Orioles. Looks like a real pitchers duel and I would be tempted to play the under on a 7.0 line. However that number in any AL game worries me so I will take the Rays to win and Archer to keep on his streak.

Suggested Bet

Rays at $1.65

Seattle Mariners vs Houston Astros (9.10am AEST)

Mariners ($2.27) – Walker
Astros ($1.67) – McHugh

Prediction

Astros. Hottest team in baseball right now is the Houston Astros. I never thought I would type that. This team is for real though. They have good pitching and batters who know how to get on base. Altuve is a future MVP and flat out just hits, and they have guys who can clear the fence and send him home. They face Walker who has been good in his last few starts since struggling early. He has a good record against the Astros, but I can’t get off the bandwagon here.

Suggested Bet

Astros at $1.67

Detroit Tigers vs Kansas City Royals (9.10am AEST)

Tigers ($1.78) – Walker
Royals ($2.09) – Volquez

Prediction

Royasl. David Price did bounce back after getting shelled 2 starts ago so he will be looking to stay in control in this division matchup. The Royals are playing great baseball and know how to get runners across. They are pitching well and still have a solid bullpen. Tigers bats either put up 10 runs or 1. So hot or cold, I can’t take them this game away from home against a hot Royals team. I don’t like going against David Price, but the value in the Royals is too good.

Suggested Bet

Royals at $2.09

Washington Nationals vs New York Mets (9.10am AEST)

Nats ($1.77) – Gonzalez
Mets ($2.10) – Niese

Prediction

Nationals. Washington bats finally awoke in Atlanta this week, scoring 13 runs in back to back games. The Mets have cooled off since winning 11 straight but by no means are playing bad. Gio Gonzalez is 5-1 in 8 starts at Citi Field, he hasn’t been his best so far but he is due. Feel like it happens today, the price is a little low for me though. At a push I would still take the Nats

Suggested Bet

Nationals at $1.77

Arizona Diamondbacks vs Los Angeles Dodgers (11.10am AEST)

D-backs($2.34) – Hellickson
Dodgers ($1.63) – Baker

Prediction

Dodgers. Dodgers seem to be taking batting practice of late as they just continue to pound home runs. Leading the whole MLB with 32. Neither pitcher here has great stuff and both likely to give up a couple of runs. D-backs can hit aswell, so I’m leaning towards the Over 8.0 runs as the play. Hopefully the home runs continue.

Suggested Bet

Over 8.0 runs at $2.01
