Robert vs Myneni

Saketh Myneni is a player I have had my eye on across the last 4 to 5 months. Outside of what was almost a tank job against Blake Mott in Launceston to get back to India for the South Asian Games, where he picked up a silver medal for reaching the final. He has also put together an exceptional week here at home in New Delhi, not dropping a set and only dropping his serve once with wins over Bega, Barton, Li and Coppejans. Myneni has shown in the last 18 months he is up to the task in finals, winning 2 out of 3, and starting all 3 as underdogs (victories at odds of $2.20 and $3.60).

Stephane Robert has also been impressive this week, having not dropped a set. Robert has been lucky in coming up against relatively poor servers, as Robert himself has had his serve broken 9 times for the week. Overall, Robert is 3 wins and 7 losses in his last 10 finals, including losing his last 3 (started most recent $1.86 favourite)

I think Robert is installed as a favourite here based off his Australian Open run, however I am more than comfortable siding with Myneni here who has been playing some very impressive tennis of late, especially on home soil. The advantage of opposing Robert is that you know if your playing can get some returns into play, you are going to be given some break point opportunities throughout the match. I rated Myneni a $1.70 chance here, so I am very very comfortable taking the $2.18 out there for Myneni to win his home Challenger.

Suggested Bet
4 units Myneni to defeat Robert at $2.18 at Pinnacle (best price $2.30 Unibet for those able to bet there)
