New Zealand v Australia
It has taken 3 weeks to get here, but finally we have arrived at the match that most thought would feature these two sides. That isn’t to suggest that the tournament has been dull, in fact it has been the opposite. The rise of Samoa and increase in England’s ability has ensured that international rugby league is slowly getting better, evidence in the chance that all 4 teams could make the Final in Week 3. Now, two teams are left that have long dominated at this level. The Kiwis are undefeated and appear to be at their pea while the Australians are in the process of introducing some rookies to this level of football. At times, it has looked as though some were perhaps beyond it, but now they are in a position to steal the tournament away from their rivals. The Kangaroos have their backs against the wall currently, fielding a team that is missing several front-line players. To make matters worse, a virus spread through the camp this week and has forced coach Tim Sheens to allow numerous players the chance to prove their fitness right up until KO. They will also have the memories fresh in their minds from the first meeting of these two sides in the competition, where the Kiwis were victorious 30-12. In that match, the Kiwis dominated the middle of the field and their forwards sent a strong message to their opponents that they are not going to back down in their area. It has been a major strength for the Kiwis throughout, but perhaps the Australians were caught off-guard somewhat. The home ground advantage is also important for the Kiwis, with the Kangaroos undoubtedly better planned to plot the downfall of their opponents. Make no mistake; this match is going to go down to the wire, bringing into play several exotic betting options, the finest featuring in the “Suggested Bet”. This is a safer selection as opposed to selecting a clear winner. In this area, the Australian’s should prevail, as the Kiwis appeared to have taken a few steps backwards since their opening match. Also, the Kangaroos will know what to expect in this match and the pressure will be on the Kiwis; something that they haven’t always managed well.
Suggested Bet
Either team under 6.5 points @ $2.80
Close call = Australia 1-6 @ $5.50 – If you believe the Aussies are going to win, choosing this increases the value. It is sure to be a close match; vastly different to the last time that the two teams met only 3 wees ago.
Gee I wish I took him = Greg Inglis FTS and/or LTS @ $9 – He has been on fire since he limped off the field in the opening match. His confidence is growing and Inglis appears to be at his best when there is responsibility upon his shoulders.
