NBA Tips 29 January 2016

The Milwaukee Bucks hit four free-throws in the final seven seconds of Tuesday night’s game against the Orlando Magic, to lift The Big Dog to a perfect pair. After staying out of the action yesterday, the search for profit continues on Friday, with the Bucks again taking centre stage in the “Play of the Day”.

Milwaukee Bucks @ Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies have built a reputation over the last several years of being a grinding, bruising and physical team, whose style of play is not generally conducive to high-scoring matches. That well-established trend appears to have taken a leave of absence in recent times, as the Grizzlies have both scored and allowed more points than usual. Ranked just 26th in the league for average scoring (96.8), Memphis have scored 101 points or more in six of their last seven matches and their 6th-ranked defence (99.0) has allowed 101 or more in five of their last seven. That combination has seen their game totals exceed 195.5 in all eight of their most recent contests. Today they host the Milwaukee Bucks, who have also been playing in some genuine shootouts lately. Seven of Milwaukee’s last eight games have totaled 197 points or more, with five of those reaching at least 207 points. Interestingly, despite these facts and both teams having a combined offence/defence average of over 195.5, the money has come for unders. The Big Dog is happy to go against the crowd on this one. Overs is the best bet of the day, with recent form trumping reputation.
