NBA Tips 15 March 2016

After a profitable weekend and a Monday on the sidelines, The Big Dog is back with another “Play of the Day” for Tuesday. Today’s early game sees the team with the longest active winning streak in the NBA, hosting one of three teams currently on the longest active losing streak.

Dallas Mavericks @ Charlotte Hornets

There is no substitute for winning form and the Charlotte Hornets are using the best run of their season to make some tremendous late-season noise in the Eastern Conference. Currently sitting just half a game behind the Miami Heat for the fourth seed, the Hornets have won seven straight and haven’t lost at home since falling to Miami 98-95 on February 5th. They aim to improve to 6-0 on their current homestand, which concludes with a game against the Orlando Magic, on Wednesday night. Charlotte have won six of their last seven by at least seven points, with their last four wins over Western Conference opponents coming by an average of 16 points. It’s a less-than-ideal match-up for the slumping Dallas Mavericks, who have dropped five in a row, including four at home. They trailed at every change in a 112-105 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night. That result continued the Mavericks’ struggles against the Eastern Conference (12-14), against whom they have lost six of the last eight on the road. The Big Dog is backing the Hornets to continue rolling and cover the spread, something they have done well as a favourite (17-10-1) and at home (18-15-1) this season. Dallas have been poor against the spread, on the road (11-19-1) and it’s hard to see them turning that around today.
