NBA Tips 13 January 2016

Yesterday’s single successful tip was the sixth straight win for The Big Dog but the current schedule has been challenging, in terms of finding value for punters. That seems true again today, as only one out of eight games stands. That game involves an elite scoring team, looking to rebound from a bad loss, against a team that has lost 10 of their last 11 games.

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Minnesota Timberwolves

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook combined for 53 points against the Portland Trail Blazers but the Thunder gave up 19 successful three-point shots and lost 115-110. That’s the most points Oklahoma City have scored in a loss since going down 122-114 in Memphis, on November 16th and the most points scored in a loss all season, when Kevin Durant has been healthy. A visit to Minnesota, where the Timberwolves have lost 16 of 21 at home and 10 of 11 overall, should be just the thing to ensure an emphatic bounce-back. The Thunder are currently second in scoring (108.9) and second in offensive efficiency (109.5), while the struggling Timberwolves are 20th in opposition scoring (102.6) and defensive efficiency (104.2). Oklahoma City have also scored over 110 points in six of their last nine wins and over 108 in eight of their last nine wins. Minnesota haven’t made a habit of allowing more than 110 points (9 times in 38 games) but leaked 125 points in a loss to the Cavaliers, on Friday and have seen opponents score over 100 in seven of their last ten losses. Expect an offensive explosion from the Thunder and if they can focus defensively, a very large margin of victory.
