After a successful overs double, in Minnesota and Utah, The Big Dog is looking to make the most of a winning streak that sits at four. Looking at today’s action, with a lot of speculation that key players could be rested across all five games, the test will be finding value in areas that are often not considered. While one of today’s plays is re-visiting a recent successful tip, the other is certainly flying right out of left field… but it’s a good ‘un!
Philadelphia 76ers @ Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors are well-and-truly focused on their upcoming playoff series against either the Indiana Pacers or Detroit Pistons and so it’s tough to know what to expect from them, in terms of minutes and general intensity. They should still be too good, at home, for the visiting 76ers but there’s one particular Sixer who might look to take advantage of this being a junk game for the Raptors. Robert Covington is finishing the season in good individual form for Philly, in spite of the team winning only two of their last 29 games. The 6’9″ range shooter out of Tennessee State is one of only three Sixers who averages more than ten shots a game (10.5) for the season and he seems intent on boosting those numbers in the final games. Covington has scored 49 points on a Kobe-like 16 from 41 shooting, including 12 of 30 from beyond the arc. He’s a fearless shooter who clearly has the green light and should cover his points line, which is below his average for April (15.2).

Memphis Grizzlies @ Los Angeles Clippers
Like the Raptors in the early game, the Clippers are secure in their playoff seed (4th) and are waiting to see if they are to play the Portland Trail Blazers or Memphis Grizzlies, in the first round. This is the penultimate game for the Grizzlies, who play the Golden State Warriors tomorrow, with the defending champions going for 73 wins and a new NBA record. From the Clippers perspective, they look set to enter the playoffs in the best form of any team but they might also wish to help the Grizzlies toward the fifth seed, as the potentially easier playoff opponent. Instead of looking any further into the result and any possible conspiracy theories, The Big Dog is going to the well, by trusting in a three-point marksman to continue his good form. J.J. Redick hit all four of his long bombs against the Dallas Mavericks, on Sunday and his over/under mark for successful three-point attempts remains at 2.5 for this game. He looked fresh against the Mavs and has has another two days off, so this looks like the perfect time to double-down on a recent play.
