A 12-3 run for the home side in the final 2:51 of yesterday’s game, in Detroit, was enough to blow the “Play of the Day” out of the water. Shaking off that disappointment, we’re met with another day of slim pickings in results markets but a quick glance at Player Performance markets has provided The Big Dog with a pair of value bets, from the same match.
Phoenix Suns @ New Orleans Pelicans
Let’s be honest… only the most hardcore Suns and Pelicans fans will care about the result of this match in the slightest. Both teams were eliminated from playoff contention some time ago, with the Pelicans sitting in 12th and the Suns languishing in 14th in the Western Conference. With injuries hitting both franchises hard, a pair of role players are finishing the season with significantly increased minutes and The Big Dog is looking at both, after being unable to split them in terms of value. After three seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, Mirza Teletovic has ended up having the best year of his career, in his first for the Suns. The 6’9″ stretch four has set an NBA record for successful three-point shots from a bench player (169) in a season, while also setting career-highs in points per game, field goal percentage and three-point percentage. His minutes per game have also increased significantly since mid-February and he is already averaging 21.5 points in 30.5 minutes, during the start of April. Teletovic has gone over his nominated points line in three of his last four games. On the other side of the court, no player has benefited more from the injury crisis in New Orleans than Luke Babbitt. After struggling to get a spot in the rotation before mid-March, the fifth-year forward out of Nevada has scored 13.4 points per game in 27.3 minutes per night, over the last 15 games. His last five games have been even more impressive, scoring 18 points a game on 31.4 minutes. He has not scored less than 15 points in that time and with the Suns ranked 29th in points allowed (107.7), Babbitt should be able to keep his good form going. In what should be a high-scoring match, both these players should cruise over their point lines and secure a solid daily profit for The Big Dog.
