Another fascinating weekend in prospect for punters with the Betfair Fixed Brush Hurdle and featured race of the day, the Betfair Chase, both from Haydock. The likes of Long Run and Weird Al take to the stage in the Grade 1 Chase. It’s the latter we fancy to come out on top. Donald McCain has had a frustrating start to the season by his standards, nevertheless he remains in good form with ten winners in the last two weeks alone. The Brannon Dick Holden-owned nine-year-old has been prepped for this race in mind and goes particularly well fresh. Jason Maguire is likely to try and run them down early and in the ground the tactics may well pay dividends. Long Run should go well for Waley-Cohen but at such a slim price, favourite-backers may well get their fingers burnt on this his seasonal reappearance. Silviniaco Conti could well go on from such a promising reappearance, but he faces much tougher company here and we have our doubts. The Giant Bolster is another you’d be foolish to rule out, given the conditions.
