Just the one key bet on the public holiday Monday meeting at Mornington. Taking a bit of a break to freshen up, but couldn’t help myself to have a look and was very happy to take a look at this race with some quality contenders well back in class up to open age racing.
Mornington Race 6
Just the three horses I think are top shelf quality going around in this race while one with the potential on times.
Watch Me Blush is a watch horse today for better things. The Pakenham win first up last prep was top quality but the horse hasn’t gone on with it since and had every chance first up. If they run it fast, this is one that can finish up over the top of them.
Star Search on raw ability is one of the horses to clearly beat here today, but he failed and knocked up last start at Sandown over 1200m when pulling up lame. I’m always happy to oppose these types the run after pulling up lame.
The two runners I like in the race are as Holy Seal and Star Search.
Holy Seal ran a blistering victory over 1000m 3-wide the trip last start at Ballarat putting away a very nice grade of race beating them by 2.5L. The second horse came out on Saturday and was beaten 0.4L at Flemington in harder. This horse handles the wet and is the very likely leader on paper. Hard to get past.
Amanatt is a lightly raced Hayes runner. 4L winner at Pakenham on synthetic as a 2YO and only run as a 3YO so far was a significant fail when pulling up lame. Obviously had a long time to mature and he looks perfectly placed today. Expecting him to sit on speed from the wide barrier.
Confidence 85%
Strategy: Holy Seal – 2.5 units @ $3.50. Amanatt 1.5 units @ 5.50
