Welcome to The Profits preview for Day 3 of the Goodwood Carnival. The rain has arrived on Day 3 of the Goodwood Carnival as expected and it’s hard to imagine the ground firming up to be better than a Soft to Heavy track for Day 4. There is just one race on the day that gives us the right types of horses and ratings to bet and we are very confident . Looking forward to continuing the Day 3 momentum. I hope your form matches up with mine. Good luck and happy punting.

Goodwood Race 1 – 1600m – Betfred Glorious Stakes
Two clear standouts from their past runs in Frontiersman and Poet’s Word both recording 136 and 137 Timeform ratings in recent runs. No rating higher than 131 has won in the past 5 years so this is a very big rating race.
Frontiersman, as long as the Irish bred bloke can put it all together will be hard to beat if has the same turn of foot on a wet track.
Poet’s Word has been going well recently with a Goodwood win as a few close shaves. Last start ran a 134 and has to be respected.
No other runner has gone beyond 131 Timeform Rating in the past, nor are their best runs on very wet.
Comments: Happy to back both favourites and hope something doesn’t improve 5-6 points. Back both favs.
Confidence 90%
Strategy: Frontiersman – 3 units @ $4.10 to win. Poet’s Word – 3 units @ $3.25 to win.
Goodwood Race 4 – 1600m – Qatar King George Stakes
Final Venture ran very well last start over much shorter. Career peak. Has to improve again the issue.
Profitable comes off a 137 timeform rating on a firm track last start and the rain won’t exactly be well received.
Take Cover and Washington DC on their days can clearly take this out.
Battaash comes in with a huge 138+ Timeofrm Rating. Looks a nice progressive type
Comments: Race wide open.. too wide open for my liking.
