The promising son of Teofilo landed in Australia early this month from the sunny tracks of Dubai. Gold Trail had been campaigning until late 2016 over in England until the team decided to send this talented dry tracker over to Dubai to start his prep with the intention of then flying to Australia to winning a Mornington Cup and Caulfield Cup.
Gold Trail is a nice free striding horse with strong early speed and a strong 200m acceleration at the end of his races that puts enough of a gap on the rivals closing behind him to hold them all at bay. Gold Trail went up $3.00 favourite for the Mornington Cup on Saturday in All-In markets and has quickly been backed into $2.40.

As seen below, Gold Trail won very well in his lead in run over in Dubai running a career peak of 117+ Timeform Rating, a number higher than any recent Mornington Cup winner and right on the money for a Caulfield Cup winner at low weights.
Gold Trail last start fairly with no excuses doing it the hard way defeated a very talented type in Prize Money who has since beaten 4x Group 1 winner and highly rated horse Postponed by 0.3L over 2400m at Meydan.
